Oct 3, 2022 – In the spirit of adopting a democratic process when making annual donations, SupportiveLiving.ca polled the residents at Lakeside Terrace to choose amongst the many organizations who support vulnerable populations. The residents unanimously chose SupportiveLiving.ca to give to the Working the Streets of Niagara organization to recognize Pastor Bill DeGuire who supports the homeless.

Working the Streets Niagara helps the most vulnerable people living on the streets get into recovery and provide the resources that they need. Due to mental illness and addictions they suffer from, a large population chooses to stay transient. Pastor Bill and his team go out into the community and build relationships to ensure their safety when the weather becomes too cold.

SupportiveLiving.ca Director Shama Chaudhry presented a donation of $500 to Pastor Bill in support of the work they do in the community. Both organizations continue to collaborate to house the homeless in a stable and safe environment.

Pastor Bill commented, “The donation from Lakeside Terrace SupportiveLiving.ca residence  is much needed to buy supplies and winter clothing for our homeless in the Niagara Region. We thank them for their continued support and dedication to our cause.”

SupportiveLiving.ca also donated last year to support Pastor Bill’s Out of the Cold Shelter by providing a dinner to the homeless in Welland.
