All residents are satisfied with services which are provided by SupportiveLiving.ca. Moreover, management is very cooperative, especially Shama and Cyndy. They are doing great job and always try to provide more support to staff and residents as well."

"I was living independently before but had to move to supportive living after my relationship fell apart. Living at Beatrice Manor has allowed me to learn how to live by myself and get my life back on track. I have my hoarding issue under control and with supports have learned to keep my room clean. I help with yard work by cutting the branches outside since fire safety is very important.
I used to live at Humberstone Manor but I like living in Welland as I am close to my son. We have had no outbreaks at Beatrice and I feel like the company does a good job with the rules because it’s to keep us safe."

SupportiveLiving has done a good job keeping COVID out. The food tastes good but one day I would like to live on my own and do my own cooking and cleaning but for now being here temporarily will get me back on my feet."

"I was living independently on Victoria Street but fell behind in my rent and ended up homeless. I am happy to be at Lakeside as its better than being at the motel. I grew up close to Lakeside, and being near the lake and my favourite park gives me peace. I have felt a sense of security here during the pandemic and I have the courage to volunteer and also help others residents with housekeeping and keeping track of our garbage. I like the pastas we get in our meals and I am proud to say I have kept up my self care by taking a daily shower. Staff is a great support too. I recommend living at Lakeside Terrace to anyone looking for transitional housing!"

“The people at Lakeside are nice and the staff is great here. The food is really good and I gained some weight and my face is growing back. I have a lot of support with laundry. Lakeside is safe from COVID with all the rules and protocols. I used to be in Crystal Beach and was pressured to do drugs before but now being at Lakeside has helped keep me sober!”

"Before going to the shelter at YWCA, I was living independently in my own apartment. At Lakeside Terrace, I have peace of mind that staff are here for supports and I have social interaction with other people. I use a walker and I like that Lakeside is accessible. During this time in my life, I am relieved that I have transitional housing.
With COVID, I feel safe with the protocols that are in place and know that I am protected by SupportiveLiving.ca. There is a lot of variety of food which I enjoy.
We are one big family and we all look out for each other. The location is wonderful and being near the lake is good for your mind and body."

Walnut Manor is a pleasant place to live where all the residents are peaceful and friendly. "Before I came to Lakeside Terrace, I was living near the library in Fort Erie with my father. I came to Lakeside over fifteen years ago. It is a comfortable setting here and I enjoy being near the lake to take walks on the beach and watch the boats. Most of the time, I listen to my radio. The staff here is great and I help them out as much as I can since this is my home. I received Resident of the Month back in March. SupportiveLiving really cares about their residents and it is great being recognized!"

"My name is Meghan and I am a resident at Lakeside Terrace Supportive Living here in Port Colborne. I have lived here for 1 year. The bathrooms get cleaned, the floors get swept and mopped daily, all the residents get their laundry done and lastly all the residents get their rooms cleaned thoroughly by the staff here. There was a change in the menu and the food since then has been terrific. Also the staff are very kind, personable and they always try to meet every residents needs if they can in a timely manner. There are many reasons why I chose to move from my hometown of Guelph to this Supportive Living Facility.
I was dealing with homelessness and I was really bad in the drug scene to the point where I was close to dead. I finally got accepted here at this location of SupportiveLiving and I accepted the offer because I not only wanted to get sober and I have been now for around 4 or 5 months. Also I came to SupportiveLiving because well I was done with being homeless and I wanted to start life fresh and on a clean slate in a different city so what I’m trying to say is that SupportiveLiving saved my life and I would not be 4 or 5 months sober if it wasn’t for them taking me in and giving me a roof over my head, and for staff that cared about me."

"SupportiveLiving.ca is a great workplace with friendly people. We are provided with many opportunities to learn and use new skills, especially when it came to working with the public and residents. Without question or judgment, Management is there EVERY SINGLE WORK DAY... assisting us with a smile.
Supportiveliving.ca is one of the most compassionate, helpful organizations in the community and I find ALL of our staff and Management to be very professional. The work atmosphere is unparalleled to any job I have had in my professional career."

“I have had a great experience working with SupportiveLiving.ca. Their team is very thorough, responsive and on the ball, especially when providing updates. They break up each step of the process and have proven to be proactive when placing an individual. They recognize the intricacies when working with hospitals and I feel they understand the challenges I face in my role, by which liaising is rapid.
SupportiveLiving.ca provides more options beyond the mental health and disability sector as they cater to a diverse group of individuals e.g. seniors. Knowing that they have no wait-list, I have already recommended them to my colleagues at CMHA!” Sarah R, Social Worker, Huron County

“SupportiveLiving.ca is willing to provide housing to individuals experiencing the stigma of mental health issues who normally would be difficult to house. This is huge within our communities. The admissions team are very responsive, great problem-solvers, open to good two-way communication and consider the opinions of others. They make my job easier because they are always two steps ahead of me in the process.
SupportiveLiving.ca is definitely helping fill a void when it comes to the housing crisis and mental health space. I highly recommend working with them and I am already spreading the news to my colleagues about the great things that they are doing for these individuals.” Sarah S, Community Partner

“I have been living at White House Lodge Supportive Living Residence since last September 2019. I was homeless in Guelph, diagnosed with schizophrenia at the age of 18 and in bad physical health due to drinking and drug use. Since coming to White House, I have not touched any drugs, my mind is clear, I am at peace and stable. Cyndy is great – she is compassionate, has nerves of steel and gives us tough love. I am amazed by her!
I now have the support and independence I need as I am high maintenance so when I need my privacy I go to my room and then join everyone when I want to. I am grateful and thankful to SupportiveLiving for my new life.”

“I used to live on my own and worked in the medical profession. I started living at Humberstone Manor Supportive Living Residence for the last few years. Michelle is great – she is pleasant, thoughtful and very professional. I can come and go as I please and enjoy spending the day with friends once a week.
Although I love to read, I can’t do it all day so I help out at the residence with dishes and cleaning. This allows me to keep busy and feel like I am helping.”

It changed my life for the better.”

“Over the past year, my experience working with SupportiveLiving.ca has always been amazing. I am able to place complex, chronically homeless individuals who normally would not be housed quickly. SupportiveLiving always takes immediate action when I am in crisis mode, as I cannot afford to wait days for a response.
No matter how complicated the situation, the admissions team are able to work with me 100% of the time. Our process is like a well-oiled machine: I refer people directly from the shelters, gage who is a good fit, and work fast with their team, with placement often happening the same day! They make my job so much easier.
SupportiveLiving.ca provides placement in a time where there is a shortage of housing and in turn, removes the burden off the shelter system, which normally cannot meet the needs of the individual.” K.E.S, Front Line Staff, Social Services

"In placing a family member into SupportiveLiving.ca, my experience has been amazing. The admissions team exercised a high level of professionalism and expertise by quickly assessing my daughter’s housing needs and placing her in the right residence.
In the past, she had moved around too many times and I was looking for a safe and stable environment. She is unable to work and needs encouragement in many aspects of her life. SupportiveLiving.ca was able to accommodate her when she moved into Humberstone Manor Supportive Living Residence.
I see the growing need for these types of homes to provide support and stability to individuals with physical, mental or emotional impairments. I wish more agencies like the YMCA and other shelters were aware of an organization such as SupportiveLiving.
I highly recommend SupportiveLiving.ca to anyone as I now have peace of mind that my daughter will be properly supported and attain an equal level of independence." –Shannon L, mother of resident

"I joined SupportiveLiving.ca as as staff member almost two years ago in May 2018 when I was training to become a nurse. I was given a live-in position at Humberstone Manor Supportive Living Residence which was a great help to me while I was studying. SupportiveLiving afforded me the opportunity to obtain my nursing certification while housing and employing me.
If I need support, the SupportiveLiving management team is there to help resolve any issues. I have grown personally and professionally and I am proud to be working for a company that is helping the community."

"I started working at White House Lodge Supportive Living residence two months ago and what can I say? I have worked in many similar homes but found SupportiveLiving.ca to be a large, welcoming company, offering so much opportunity to grow.
My decision to leave the other homes and work at SupportiveLiving.ca was solely based on the amazing support I received from their management team. It is a breath of fresh air to know my voice is heard and they are committed to my success.
While my home base is White House Lodge, I was given the opportunity to travel to other Supportive Living residences. It gives me the chance to work with a diverse set of residents, with various diagnoses. I am also delighted to work with a new community in direct coordination with churches or food banks.
My job is never boring and my work keeps me on my toes. I highly recommended working here. SupportiveLiving.ca is a great company invested in its staff, clients and residents!"

“SupportiveLiving.ca is very responsive and committed in helping to place an individual I support, who has very complex needs. This makes my job easier by facilitating the intake process and understanding the individual's requirements, which in turn allows more time for me to help support other individuals. At SupportiveLiving.ca, the individual I support is able to enjoy both his freedom and independence while his basic needs such as food, toiletries and laundry are addressed. With the government funding he receives today, he would not be able to afford independent housing and would be rendered homeless if an organization like SupportiveLiving.ca did not exist. They help solve the shortage of affordable housing in our community with the necessary support services in place.” - T.V, Support Worker, Niagara Region

“When working with SupportiveLiving.ca as an organization, I found them to be very accommodating, flexible, caring and compassionate. They understand the complex needs of the vulnerable population they serve.
I deal directly with the admissions team who are an excellent resource for my referrals. The SupportiveLiving team respond to my needs immediately, they are out of the box thinkers and professional at all times. They are in tune with the housing industry and understands the special needs of this challenging population.
It is a unique situation working with SupportiveLiving.ca because they fill a void by housing residents that the city cannot house due to its lack of resources. SupportiveLiving.ca is committed to their promise to offer safe and affordable housing for all those in need.”

"I was living in another home and dealing with the ACTT team and psychiatrists but then I came to SL in 2011 and been here for 8 years. Living here has made me a better person and I made a lot of friends and the staff and my case worker are supportive and I am happier at Beatrice Manor Living Supportive Living Residence. I am moved to Room 19 and it is a nice room with privacy because now I don’t have a roommate like before. I like Beatrice Manor because it is family oriented atmosphere and there is respect. Vishal has helped me and he is a good man, a good friend and when he meets me, he is nice to me and treats me with the respect. The staff think he is great too. And the support services like the ACTT team take me to activities and we use computers and have a Timmy's coffee. So I am very happy here. Thank you SupportiveLiving.”

"I was living in the next town over with my teenage son in my own apartment but then I was hospitalized last year. It brought on high anxiety and landlord issues. I was acting off and needed to recuperate. Living in a SupportiveLiving home has changed my life where it has matured me and accepted different mental health problems. I am non-judgmental and people need to stop putting down those with mental issues.
I am stronger now. I had to learn how to walk, and shower and do things on my own. At White House Lodge, I want to be tidier and cleaner. The manager here, Cyndy, is like a second mom to me. With tough love, we made a connection. She has a big job here and she is managing it well! The residents here are like my family so I help by making coffee, sewing and cleaning. When life is hard, you appreciate what you have and to be content.”

"I had no place to stay so I started living with a roommate and it didn’t work out because the environment was not good. When I got out, I ended up at Walnut Manor. There was a lot of negative aspects in my life. Now I feel like my life is heading in a positive direction and I have more stability and peace of mind. I keep myself busy and still manage things on my own and I have seasonal work. What’s great is I have a personal space here, good conditions. I tried working to see if I could put myself out there but I am not ready as yet. This home is a safety net due to the negative circumstances I was prone to before. I get meals and a place to shower.”

"I like St Thomas because I am a country boy, not a city slicker. I lived on my own and other homes but I needed a place where it was quiet and they make good meals and boost up my confidence. I like to get social and talk to people, sit outside and go see movies and Timmies coffee. So yeah, I like the social activities and the meals and when the ACTT people take you to see movies and baseball games or restaurants.
We sometimes go camping or have Halloween parties. At Walnut Manor, we all get along and we help each other out, like if one of us runs out of smokes, we help each other out and share. I really like the staff and they help us to make our day better.”

The staff at Walnut Manor is supportive and managed well. And I think Kodie is great!”

"I started working for SupportiveLiving.ca almost 2 years ago and in this time I have been able to grow with the company. I’m always put to the challenge and one never stops learning.
We have an open door policy so you never feel stuck or alone. Vishal believes in me and what I bring to the table in order to help grow the company even more. Management is very understanding and helps in resolving any problems that come up.
Also, I rely on my team for feedback and guidance in working with the residents at the homes. The most rewarding aspect is how we put our residents first and have their best interest at heart."

"I have been working for SupportiveLiving.ca at Beatrice Manor since December 2016. In the beginning, it was a struggle dealing with the residents as it was a new experience for me to understand their problems and the behavior. At first the communication with mental health care services, ACTT, community health care and Gateways was difficult. But I built a good relationship with the management team who helped create a good working atmosphere.
All the staff who work for Vishal maintain healthy communication with him and, under his guidance, we are able to provide quality services to the residents of our homes. The company is very focused on delivering exceptional housing for its residents.”

I enjoy working for Vishal and love working with the residents. If there are any issues or problems, Vishal is on top of it and sincerely cares about his employees. He even reached out to me after my surgery. Very supportive.
At the previous home I worked at, the owner closed and said the all residents will have to go back on the streets in shelters. Vishal stepped up, took each and every resident and provided housing for them. He cares about the people and they always come first!”

"As a community worker, SupportiveLiving.ca is highly responsive – something which is quite appreciated in our line of work, given that it often take weeks to hear back from other housing providers. There is also a personal aspect. I have built relationships with their management team and can rely on them to give me the information I need. SupportiveLiving.ca is a reputable name in the industry and this is based on the services they provide. No hoops to jump through or hidden costs. They are straight-forward and offer housing, affordable to our clients. The biggest problem that is solved by SupportiveLiving.ca is the lack of affordable housing in the community. Even when there is availability in other homes, I am inclined to refer my clients to SupportiveLiving because they are easy to work with and I have confidence in their ability to provide housing that is in the best interests of my client." – Sierra R, Outreach Worker, Waterloo/Wellington Region
